12/13/09 Sunday In Review

Glad to see its good to be back on the blog. Finals are done, I'm off campus til january, and I have nothing on my schedule but party party party! Anyways, how have my loyal, casual, and brand new readers been? Good? That's good. Well this week I haven't really got any new tracks to praise, or a good mixtape (WTF musicworld?) BUT! I do have a good few album to review this week! Even one for the ladies. So with that, its time to go in.

Album Reviews:
Remember people we're in a recession, so SUPPORT the artists! Buy the albums from your local Audio stores or Itunes. SUPPORT GOOD MUSIC! But if it's a whack CD, go ahead and download it, don't support whack artists!

Album Review:
The Clipse - Til The Casket Drops
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
So The Clipse have a knack with not releasing albums for 3-4 years. And they also have a knack for dropping STRONG releases when their album DOES finally come out. They do keep you interested year by year by releasing exclusive mixtapes to hold you until the album drops. This situation is no different, Til the casket drops delivers with all the orginiality and creativity that you get from a Clipse album or mixtape. This CD packs the essential ingredients needed to make a classic Clipse album: Production by the Neptunes, Strong featurettes, Memorable punchlines, and well crafted songs. I def. recommend buying this album QUICK!
Album Rating (5/5)

Wiz Khalifa - Deal or No Deal
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Taylor Gang in full affect! Only a few weeks after his strong mixtape release of "Burn After Rolling" Wiz releases Deal or No Deal, his second album, and in my opinion, best one yet. Now as with most artist, their mixtape persona isn't the same as their album persona, Wiz being no different. Now we all know Wiz goes hard on mixtapes, and besides his Fly Society colleague Curren$y, he goes in even harder. The song "Friendly ft. Curren$y" is on the album and is great evidence of Mixtape Wiz & Curren$y. Towards the middle of the album he starts to become R&B Wiz, which is great for the ladies. Overall this is a great album from Wiz!
Album Rating (4/5)

Gucci Mane - The State VS Radric Davis
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ok so, I'm going to be honest here. About a year ago this time, I did NOT like Gucci. I don't know what changed my mind about it but, this Gucci album is a motherf#$%ing classic! One thing Gucci brought back that I haven't seen in ages are interludes, and not just interludes, actual FUNNY interludes, they feature Mike Epps on them and are hilarious. But that's beside the point, the tracks on the album are straight up BANGERS. The R&B tracks are listen-to-able, the trap tracks go way too hard, and theres even a Wasted Remix to wrap up the album. Buy this one quick, I can't stop listening to this album! I had to do this:
Album Rating (5/5)

Robin Thicke - Sex Therapy: The Experience
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ok fellas, just because this dude is an R&B singer doesn't mean ignore this part of the post! This album is a certified track for the bedroom. And not just that, but with singles like "Meiple ft. Jay-Z, Shakin it for Daddy ft. Nicki Minaj, and Elevatas ft. Kid Cudi" this album packs a major punch of good music and an even better fusion of R&B and hip hop. Me and my lady friends love this album (LOL). This album makes history on the blog as the first R&B album to get a 5 outta 5. Pat yourself on the back there Mr. Thicke.
Album Rating (5/5)

And this week to wrap up Sunday In Review, we bring you another exclusive Grind Time battle courtesy of WorldStarHipHop. Newest Grind Time Battle featring Norm Bates battling G Souldier. Here it is:

11/22/09 Sunday In Review

Hope all my readers had a good weekend! I know I did! But enough of my personal life, you're all here for blogness and shit. This week I don't think any good albums came out, therefor I don't have any albums to review. But! I have a back up plan, you just wait til the end you'll see! On to the singles, go in!

Hot Singles:
Gonna jump it off with a song I know most of you have heard. If not, most of you SHOULD have heard it. And once I'm done talking about it, you WILL get a chance to hear it. The song is called "Flex - Party Boyz" and its another OHW club banger! They should make these their own genre. And like any OHW club banger, theres a dance to it, but that you'll have to look up on your own time, lo siento. Anyways, here it is:

Next song is another song by my man Travis Porter. This one is right off his & Waka Flocka's mixtape "Streets R Us" (I might need to download that?). Its Called "Hell You Talmbout" and has the energy from Waka's music and the addictiveness of Travis'. We're giving Travis Porter a pass, he's got 3 or 4 hot songs on the net buzzing so he's passed OHWism. (Remember Stands for One Hit Wonder). FLOCKA!:

This song I pulled from the Album of The Week last year. Wale! Now personally any track with Skate Boy P on it I've come to like. This ones no different. Wale & Pharrell make a really good team music-wise. The track is called "Inhibitions" and is straight off of "Attention Deficit". Possibly the next radio single? Who knows! Either way here it is:

So this song might be Jay-Z's latest audio appearance since BluePrint 3. He's accompanies Robin Thicke on the song named "Meiple (Me I Play)" and in the name of Robin Thicke, it goes hard. Its an upbeat, play before you play in the bedroom, type song (LOL). DEF a banger in my opinion. And its my blog so its always my opinion! Ha! Here it goes:

This week's throwback song/video is awarded my man Bussa-Buss! I know everybody remembers this song, what grade were you in when it came out (LOL) "Break Ya Neck - Busta Rhymes" Lets Go:

Album/Mixtape Reviews:
Big shout outs to my Mixtape Stars for the week @liltwist & @TYGA. This weeks review has been taken over by Young Money. Mixtapes provided by www.livemixtapes.com.

Mixtape Review:
Lil Twist - Class President
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Wow! After weeks of Tweet after Tweet about this being a hot mixtape. Homie lived up to his tweets! This mixtape goes hard as ever! He DEF has the Young Money blood in him to drop hot shit and make it in the game. I see big things poppin' in Lil Twists' future. If you haven't got this mixtape via Twitter (He Tweets the link every 5 mins) go pick it up from livemixtapes now!
Mixtape Rating (4/5)

Tyga - Black Thoughts
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Tyga Tyga! Wow! This is Cali at it's best! (Big Grin) West Coast stand up Tyga is killing it now! He's come a long way from that lime in the coconut bullshit. Young Money's strong on this one as well. And Tyga is a lyrical geneuis. Anybody who thinks the only good rappers on Young Money are Drake & Weezy needs to get their head out their ass! Go cop this mixtape with the quickness!
Mixtape Rating (4/5)

As promised here's my replacement for no album review this week.

11/15/09 Sunday In Review

Well first off HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my blog its a week old. [Aww] In my book it had a great first week run so I'm gonna keep going on the schedule that I have the best that I can. So lets go in! And I want to say a point for the name change of the "Singles" section - I realized that in the advanced world songs can be downloaded as soon as their finished in the studio, so to save face I've changed the name from "New Singles" to "Hot Singles". Now this way I have more ways to work with the singles section. Anyways Enjoy Today's Post!

Hot Singles:
I'm sure I like this song for the same reason anybody likes any Gucci Mane song. The beat. I mean I still don't think he's a good rapper [LOL]. His songs are catchy and his beats are hot thats about it. And since I still live in the south and go to a black college, its hard to NOT like Gucci or at least listen to him. The name of the track is "On Deck - Gucci Mane" If you don't like it for the lyrics, listen to the beat, it goes hard. Here it is:

Next song, unless you've been under a rock, you've had to have heard. Even if it was by accident. Its from my man Travis Porter (Twitter: iamtravisporter) and its called "All the way turned up - Travis Porter". In my book its like a version of "Turn My swag on" that I can STAND to listen to. I vote this song to be listened to on the way to the club to get you hyped and ready to get it in once you get in. Lets go!:

Track 3 is dedicated to the ladies. "Say Aah - Trey Songz", you can hate on it if you want to but thats just killing your chances with the females. Any smart nigga knows to like this song, at least when a shawty is around. And c'mon its Trigga you know the song is gonna go hard. "O so Loso" drops a verse on it too to keep the street cred up on the song. Favorite line "He works every time, Patron you my nigga" Ha! Ladies, fellas too [No Homo] here it is [YUHP!]:

Next song is a Clipse track that sounds like its right off of "Hell hath no fury". If you heard that album you know its a GOOD thing. I'm not saying that "I'm good" isn't a good track, its does its numbers and beats heads. But "Popular Demand - Clipse ft. Cam'ron" just sounds like that classic Clipse that we all grew up on. Cam'ron makes a somewhat return on it, if you like his flow, its present on this track. Here it goes:

And I PROMISED if I could find a link to download it, I'd provide it so Early Merry Christmas Here It Is: http://www.limelinx.com/files/d98386b6806d4c2a4866ce7712834500

And to stay on the trend of "Clipse" type things. The throwback track of the week is..........."Mr Me Too - Clipse ft. Pharrell" Anyone who didn't think this song went hard had to be deaf or not a true hip hop fan. Take a quick trip back in time here it is!:

Album/Mixtape Reviews:
First point I would like to make: All my mixtapes are provided by www.livemixtapes.com. Its free to download, just sign-up and start downloading. All my albums are I-Tunes purchased so no need trying to raid my dorm for stolen music! And on that note, go in!

Mixtape Review:
Wiz Khalifa - Burn After Rolling (B.A.R.)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm gonna go ahead and say it, Wiz is back! I'm not sure how many Wiz fans there are but this man has a hell of a net buzz for a few years and no album out yet. His mixtapes always go hard. This one for one has creativity out the ass, which you don't see alot of anymore even with the hottest of artists. Theres also punchline after punchline from him. He's gone a far way from "Say Yeah" and its for the better. His album "Deal or No Deal" drops November 24 so DEF go cop that! As for the mixtape, if you have yet to download it, stop what you're doing and go grab it. Taylor Gang!
Mixtape Rating (5/5)

Various Artist - Welcome To Trilladelphia 5
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I don't usually review "Various Artist" mixtapes because most of them have a wide range of artists. But since there is a little bit of Philly in this Cali Boy's blood, I couldn't help but pick up this mixtape. If you're into philly rappers than I recommend you should have already downloaded this tape! Its got new tracks from Cassidy, Gillie, Freeway, Meek Millz, and so many more artists that make up Philly's Arsenal. Theres everything you expect in a various artist mixtape, party tracks, gully tracks, gutta tracks, and album exclusives. Big Ups to DJ E-Stacks for keeping this series going.
Mixtape Rating (4/5)

Gorilla Zoe - Monkey Business 2
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This tape is classic Zoe. All the good music you like from Gorilla Zoe is present in his new mixtape hosted by DJ Spinatik & The Wax Wizards. I'm a Zoe fan and I wasn't dissappointed at this at all, only 1 track on there from an old mixtape which to be safe we'll just call it a throwback. Gucci is present as you'd expect. Lots of GO HARD tracks on the mixtape. I recommend it.
Mixtape Rating (4/5)

Album Review:
Wale - Attention Deficit
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Well, I'm sure this review has been long awaited. Hell, this album was long awaited. After many mixtape releases and a sudden main stream hype via MTV VMAs and BET Hip Hop Awards, Wale is finally getting the long time coming attention that he needs! And what better way to take advantage of that than drop an album with all the Wale that his veteran fans love. Theres a bit of Go-Go Wale on the album, theres freestyle Wale, mixtape Wale, and even Slow track Wale. Not to be greedy but it would have been nice to see more tracks on the album than the ones that made it, but I was glad to see that there were no tracks off his mixtape carelessly thrown on the album. Altogether its a well crafted album with good featurettes and even better production. After my first listen I was going to give this album a 4/5 but I listened to it again, and actually LISTENED to it. So now I've given it the rating an album like this deserves.
Album Rating (5/5)

Artist To Watch:
I'm going to give this one to my man Travis Porter. His new mixtape with Waka Flocka "Streets R Us - DJ Teknikz" is getting a pretty good buzz. Travis' twitter is almost at 11k followers. So fill up the rest and hit him up @iamtravisporter.

Outro:
Personally I think this weeks Sunday In Review went hard. You be the judge! Comment on the post after reading and listening to todays post. I'm leaving all my wonderful fans with a hilarious vid, pretty sure this vid will make anyones day:

11/11/09 *HAPPY VETERANS DAY* Men's Talk

Well first I want to give a big shout out to the veterans no matter which war they fought in. But it's Wednesday and its time to introduce another blog tradition: "Mens Talk". This is probably going to be the most interactive part of my blog. The rules are simple, I post a question for the fellas and then I post a question for the ladies, THEN you can respond via: a comment, an e-mail, facebook post, or even a tweet. For the ones that are sent to me personally, I'll post on the blog later with the persons name or user name. But as my blog progresses I see this being a way to interact with my audience. In the future I'll take questions on Tuesdays to post on Wednesday. Without further hesitation lets get into the question at hand:

FELLAS -
Would you rather MARRY a girl, and give up a few values for more looks or give up a few looks for more values? And just for entertainment, give us an explanation.

LADIES -
Would you rather MARRY a man, and give up a few values for more looks or give up a few looks for more values? And explain.

If you're not getting the question I'll elaborate a little: Give up a few values means would you rather have a girl who is a 5 star bitch, fills out all her outfits, but acts as bad as she looks. The type where you might have to get married in Vegas cause you know you can't bring her around your mom. [LOL]. And Give up a few looks just means shes pretty or average, nice body, nothing to sweat over but at the same time shes nice, she cooks, she cleans, your mom LOVES her. Hope that helped a little. Send in your responses folks!

FACEBOOK, TWITTER, etc RESPONSES:

DA_FLyest101 Via Twitter: "ok i would rather marry n him nt n as cute n have all the values bc look are superficail n its nt enough to love someone"

And just because I left you without music on the other post:

11/9/09 On Blast! Mondays

Hello Hip Hop World, its SiDY and I'm introducing a new tradition to my readers today. Mondays are now OBM (On Blast! Mondays). OBM are news & rumors from a different angle, that angle being I "voice" my opinion to whatever topic comes up.

FIRST TARGET

MIXTAPES!:
Lets start with something that has been bugging the hell out of me. Why are mixtapes now having creative titles? I don't want to think why Drake called his mixtape Property of October, I'm more worried about what tracks are on it! I think some of the blame goes to these DJ's especially the ones that UNOFFCIALLY host a mixtape. They do 1 of 2 things: Act like they know the artist personally and give them drops on every song OR grab artists drops off of old mixtapes and put them on theirs. Sad. Sad. Now back to stupid mixtape titles, Gucci Mane gets an Emmy for this "GucciMerica, Great BRRRitan, & BRRussia". Gucci. Really? That isn't creative or clever at all! Its just ignorant. And I know you guys are like "Well cmon its Gucci he's dumb as hell" But still! And Soulja Boy dropped a tape around halloween that I have to say is by far the most creative name for a mixtape ever, "Paranormal Activity". C'mon! Thats hella original! Obviously in it he has raps that tie into the movie right? Soulja Boy has always been creative with titles "Souljaboytellem.com", that might be more original than the new mixtape! Have I listened to either of these mixtapes? No, but you see I'm not putting them down for content, Gucci's might actually have some "Grade A Gucci Music" on it. No need if wondering if Soulja Boy's mixtape has anything worth listening to, we all know that answer.
As a matter of fact, Twitter me some of the dumbest mixtapes or even album names you've heard of recently: @CaliBoySwagg3r

NEXT TARGET

HOV Vs BEANS
Anybody remember 1-900-Hustler, Ignorant Shit, and all those other great songs that Hov and Beanie Siegel both blessed the track on? Well I sure do, and it leaves me lost at why Beans is going at Jay. I haven't looked much into it or listened to Bean's diss tracks but it can't be over something serious. And I'm actually scared for Beanie because IF Jay does say something back he is gonna kill pretty much any ounce of career that Beans has left. There are already rumors that Jay made a response track, if its true and it gets released, its gonna be a wrap. Oh and I will DEF have it posted for download and INCLUDE a youtube link to listen to it while it downloads! But c'mon Beans be smart, call it off or whatever you gotta do before you do yourself any more damage (I.e. - Moving to G-Unit??!?!)

NEXT TARGET

Since its In the air...
G-Unit has pretty much been a graveyard since.......Game was kicked off. But thats my personal fact I mean opinion. 50 knows its a graveyard, but somehow the artists he signs don't. They jump right for it, I don't see why. On another note, I wish fif would stop targeting pussies in hip hop. Rick Ross? C'mon now he aint gonna say much of shit back to you, that was an easy one. Fat Joe? That battles lasted forever. Wayne should have went in on him, but then again ignoring him was just as good in my book. People think of 50 as a bully in the industry, but hes more like a bully at a computer camp. He isn't a big threat he just hasn't stepped up to anyone who will do anything. Its been awhile since we've had a good, long, legtimate Hip Hop beef going on. I would same Game & 50 would have been the longest I've seen in my lifetime. Hip Hop we need some new GOOD beef. Don't dedicate one song, or one verse, dedicate a whole damn mixtape. Lets take it back to the Ghost Unit days. Hip Hop is dead cause too many people get along! [LOL]

Wrapping things Up

So I'm gonna leave you guys with this vid. Not gonna talk too much shit cause Karma is a bitch and I would be hella heated if it happen to me. Hope everyone has a great week, and keep supporting me!

-Sidy

11/08/09 Intro

Good Afternoon world and welcome to the OFFICIAL CBS BLOG. Start things off if you haven't already noticed, CBS stands for CaliBoySwagger. My name is SiDY if you didn't already know then there you go.

New Singles:
First off I want to talk about the song that just over the weekend got stuck in my head. Song is called "Walk Wit A Dip - Ca$h ft. Dorrough". This is DEF a club banger. I can see people jiggin' to it now. Hell thats all I do when it comes on. I haven't heard of the artist and don't listen to the lyrics too hard so he might be on track for a One-Hit Wonder. OHW! Bottom Line the shit goes hard, heres the official music video:

Next track to put everybody on is "Gotta get it - Juvenile ft. Gucci Mane". Gotta say whether you think Juvi' made a return on this one or not, you can't help but admit that the song goes hard. The version with Gucci is the remix but Gucci did it justice so thats the version I'm putting everyone on to:

Last track is from my nigga The Dream. I did a little bit of research and it seems like this track comes off of 'Love Vs Money - The Hangover Edition'. The track is called "Hit It on the Road - The Dream". Can't wait til it gets played in the club down here! Heres the (fan-made) vid:

Album/Mixtape Reviews:
Well to jump things off, if you have yet to get 'No Ceilings', you're hella late for class and you're off the roster [LOL]. Most of us had the unofficial leaked version right before its Halloween release. But as of November 1st the official version was released on Wayne's website including 5 new tracks. http://www.lilwaynehq.com/2009/11/01/lil-wayne-no-ceilings-official-mixtape-download/ This link contains the official artwork, updated tracklist and many different links to the updated tape.

Mixtape Review:
Lil Wayne - No Ceilings
Not sure about anyone else but when I listened to this tape all the way through two things happen - 1.) I quickly flashed back to "Drought 3 Weezy" and 2.) I had my favorite Tracks/Classic Quotes already. This mixtape was the MixtapeWeezy that Jay-Z mentioned. I guess it was worth the wait, with the most excitement we got being "Young Money Allstars" mixtapes and "We be steady mobbin'". For a second I thought Drake and the rest of Young Money had a chance to steal the spotlight. Well not anymore [LOL]. Looks like its bumping 'No Ceilings' until the 'Rebirth' and 'Young Money Fam' albums drop. I wonder/hope we get a Drake mixtape inbetween now and the release of 'Thank Me Later'.
Mixtape Rating (5/5)

Album Review:
Jay-Z - Blueprint 3
Yes I know it has been out for a minute but I just got the new Wale album so that will be reviewed in my next post. And plus come on, Blueprint 3 was an amazing album anyways. Personally I only skip 4 tracks, "Run This Town" and "D.O.A." because they've been out on the radio and I'm tired of them. The other two "Empire State of Mind" and "Young Forever" because I just wasn't feeling them. Not saying Hov didn't go hard on them, just not my style. Hardest track on the album "Real as it Gets ft. Young Jeezy", Runner up "Venus vs Mars". He had some great producers and even better featurettes. Way to go hard in '09 Hov.
Album Rating (4/5)

Artist to Watch:
I'm giving this one to Gudda Gudda. This man is hella underrated. His new mixtape 'Guddaville' goes SO hard and at the same time gives other Young Money artists a chance to shine but not OVER shine him. Behind Weezy and Drake, Gudda is the hottest on Young Money. Fourth place becomes a fight between Jae Millz & Mack Maine, but thats another argument. Not sure if he has an album on the way but best believe I'll keep everyone posted if he does.

Outro:
Well this is it for my very first post on this blog. I think I might start using ZShare to give you guys direct download links to the songs I mention instead of just Youtube vids. Expect these posts to be much more rich as my blog progresses. Also expect to see Guest Bloggers, Artists interviews, Music exclusives, and hip hop news. Help get my blog out there I can't do this alone! Tell your friends, enemies, families, employees, co-workers, employers, teachers, peers, etc [LOL].
